Watch Battery Replacement

Why Us

We have heard many horror stories of incompetent people in big box stores changing watch batteries, from not being able to put the case back on properly to destroying the quartz movement or cracking the watch dial crystal. Sure they offer their battery replacement service for a very cheap price but you never know if you are going to get your watch back in one piece.

We at Times Right are professionals in watch battery replacement with a certified watchmaker of 35 years overseeing all replacements. We have invested in all the tools needed for this service and know how to use them properly. Besides replacing the battery we will also replace the watch back gasket if needed.

Our battery replacement charge is $10.00 which may not be the cheapest but you can be confident that your watch will be running and looking as good as you brought it in. We also offer a one year guarantee on our watch batteries if they should die (receipt required with date of service).

Please read the “Please Note The Following” section below for more information about our watch battery replacement service and warranty.

About Our Replacement Batteries

Many battery brands are used in the marketplace. We use Renata batteries. These tend to be the most expensive but are in our view the best. Renata is a Swiss-made battery manufacturing company owned by Swatch Group (Omega, Longines, Hamilton, Breguet etc). Renata batteries are the most reliable and last the longest too. They are also the battery of choice fitted by premier Swiss watch houses including Tag HEUER, Breitling, Chopard and even Rolex for their quartz collections.

There are also many cheap inferior batteries sold & fitted by both jewelers and ‘repairers’. In recent times there has been a flood of alkaline Button batteries entering the market. Alkaline batteries are entirely useless for watches as their power reserve and performance dips from day 1. For example, if a flash light is left on for a number of hours, it will, of course, be considerably dimmer and if left the beam will just fade away. These batteries are unfortunately commonly fitted in watches too. Renata batteries are high-quality silver-oxide cells. Silver Oxide cells will keep a watch running 24 hours per day for 3 to 5 years! Also after alkaline cells have spent their energy, they are prone to leakage and will destroy the movement in a watch. Not so with Renata batteries being completely leak-proof thanks to a sophisticated sealing process.

Please Note The Following

  1. When you bring your non running quartz watch to us for battery replacement please realize that it may take up to a day to be returned to you depending on the volume of watches we may have in shop awaiting battery replacement.
  2. Even though Times Right has a certified watchmaker on premises, we do not repair watches. He is also a certified clockmaker and is devoting his work totally to clock repair with the exception of quartz watch battery replacement. So if the battery replacement does not start your watch running again, the quartz movement is probably damaged and will need to be serviced by someone else. No charge to you if this is the case.
  3. Times Right does not sell new watches or repair watches. When you allow us to replace the battery in your watch, you are agreeing it will be at “your own risk” that damage will not occur to your watch in the process of battery replacement. You are also agreeing not to hold Times Right liable for any damage to your watch if damage occurs.
  4. If your quartz watch is an expensive brand, note that we are not company certified to replace batteries in their watches and will break the warranty just opening it. We recommend sending the watch back to the dealer you bought it from because they are certified and have the proper knowledge on how to service that particular watch .  Our service is more geared to inexpensive watches which require no specialized knowledge of the watch, specialized gaskets and pressure testing.
  5. Our one year warranty only covers the watch battery if it dies. We do not warranty the water resistance of the watch and damage caused by water entering the watch after we open it. We do not keep records of when the watch was serviced so we do require the receipt we gave you when the watch was returned to you. On the receipt we will write a description of the watch and date battery was replaced so we can identify the watch with the one brought back to us.
  6. We do not replace smart watch batteries. We only replace watch batteries that are button cell. Batteries for smart watches are not button cell but rechargeable units. We recommend taking the smart watch to someone specializing in servicing smart watches.
